Govert Gijsbers studied at the Free University in Amsterdam and obtained his PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2009. He has worked in international research and development activities for more than 25 years amongst others for the United Nations and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). He joined TNO in 2004 and is presently working as senior researcher at the TNO Expertise Center Strategies for the Information Society (SIS). Earlier he worked at the TNO Institute for Strategy, Technology and Policy (STB), and as manager of the Innovation Policy Group. Govert specializes in research and innovation policy, with a special interest in evaluation and impact assessment, and in foresight studies. Recent projects include internationalization and innovation, ageing and innovation, the future of learning, new skills and competences for Europe, and sectoral innovation issues, and on science and technology commercialization with the Russian Academy of Sciences, He has led a large number of international projects for the European Commission, for the Asian Development Bank, for the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others. In the Strategy and Change program, Govert is team leader for Economy and Society.
