Maarten Gehem

Strategic Analyst

Maarten Gehem is a strategic analyst at HCSS. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Philosophy and in Comparative and International Politics from the Catholic University of Leuven. Mr. Gehem graduated magna cum laude for both studies.
He specialized in EU foreign policy and conflict management and conducted research on Swedish conflict prevention and the EU’s policy towards the Darfur crisis. After his studies, he followed an EU-traineeship at the ALDE-group, where he worked on foreign policy and environmental issues. Prior to his position at HCSS, Mr. Gehem ran the economic and trade division at the Dutch Embassy in Dublin, where among other things he briefed Dutch ministries on the developing economic crisis.
