On May 22-23, Stephan presented the opening keynote address and then participated in NATO Allied Land Command‘s ‘Command and Control Rehearsal of Concept’ (C2 ROC) Drill in Izmir, Turkey.
This drill was one step in the preparations for LANDCOM’s major exercise ‘Trident Lance’, which will take place in in December 2014 in Grafenwoehr, Bavaria. All of this and is part of NATO’s stepped-up exercise plan as it transitions from ISAF to the post-ISAF era. Trident Lance is a realistic, multi-corps, multi-echelon exercise that will take place in December and which is to prepare LANDCOM for its role as as a Land Component Command (LCC) for Major Joint Operation (MJO+) based on Article 5 (collective defense). Stephan shared some of his thoughts on the two days in a LinkedIn posting.
