Opposition to the extension of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline in Central and Eastern Europe is largely conditional. The countries opposing the pipeline do so mainly because it would deny them a role as a transit country; not because it would increase dependence on Russian gas in this part of Europe. Others have declared neutrality toward the project. Poland still counts on Brussels, which has so far has made clear it is critical about the proposed pipeline.
Polish news website BiznesAlert spoke about the matter with Sijbren de Jong. The full article can be read here (in Polish).
