An informal meeting of OPEC member countries is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the 15th International Energy Forum in Algeria from Sept. 26 to 28, 2016, Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, OPEC president announced on August 8.
On August 18, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said the meeting will provide a platform for OPEC and non-OPEC countries to discuss the market situation, including determining any possible action that may be required to stabilize the market.
Although prices rose immediately after the announcement, fundamentally nothing much has changed says Sijbren de Jong to Turkish Anadolu news agency. Unless something changes fundamentally, we won’t see a sustained recovery.
