HCSS will host a roundtable with Dr. Moncef Kartas on ‘Small Arms Trade and Conflicts in the MENA region’ on Wednesday 21 January 2015.
Dr. Karatas is the project coordinator of the Small Arms Survey’s programme Security Assessment in North Africa. The session will focus on the implications of small arms and light weapons trade and (illicit) trafficking for conflicts in the MENA region. Specifically, what role does The Netherlands play? What concrete actions can and should we undertake to counter illicit arms trade in the region? Participants of the roundtable are policy officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence, researchers, representatives from the industry and NGO’s.
Participation is by invitation only.
