Russia’s Gazprom and its partners are scrambling to keep the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project alive despite running into unexpected trouble with the Polish competition authority. Although the pipeline wouldn’t run through Poland, UOKiK, the country’s monopolies regulator, argued last month that the consortium could further strengthen Gazprom’s dominance in Poland’s gas market, with negative consequences for competition.
