Feeling the heat of Western sanctions, Russia is increasingly looking to its Eastern neighbor China for support.
Since last May when Russia and China signed a deal on natural gas deliveries, a string of cooperation deals have been signed. Just several days ago at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit several more deals were signed, including a memorandum of understanding on natural gas deliveries from western Siberia to China; the same resource base from which Russia supplies its European clients.
The question then becomes, are Russia-China relations truly flourishing, and should Europe be worried about this? Anadolu News Agency spoke with Sijbren de Jong about the broader implications of the last natural gas deal. The whole interview can be read here.
