The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) conducts strategic research and multidisciplinary analyses independently and in collaboration with its large network of affiliated experts. Our projects are performed in three programs.
The Comprehensive Security Program generates an overview of and insight into the intricate relations between political, military, economic, social, environmental and technological developments that shape our security environment.
The program provides customers with methodological and substantive support, based on an understanding of the dynamics of interconnected issues and their security effects.
The products of the program are hands-on advice on context-sensitive, robust and adaptive security policies and strategies.
The Socio-economic Program explores the dynamics of the socio-economic environment. It seeks to understand the socio-economic implications of economic behavior, issues of scarcity, climate change, culture, technology, innovation and societal and political ambitions.
The program provides customers with an integrated approach for policy, planning and decision making. The program provides a strategic overview and understanding of the broad socio-economic arena.
The Strategic Futures Program explores the current dynamic and complex global setting and future developments of strategic importance.
The program helps customers to understand strategic trends, build resilience against future shocks, and supports the navigation through these uncertainties.
The program produces two lines of products: the State of the Future and Future Issues. By doing so it supports the generation of policy options for decision makers.
